Columns

Columns is a series of floor-based PVC sculptures that critically re-examines the classical architecture of support through a non-objective lens. By truncating the expected verticality of the traditional column and stripping it of its load-bearing function, the works operate as autonomous spatial interventions, drawing a direct lineage to Donald Judd’s modular specificity and Ellsworth Kelly’s precise, spatial color fields. Rendered in high-gloss polyurethane paint, each piece utilises high-contrast colour blocking, recessed voids, and framed cutouts to disrupt solid geometric volume—bridging pictorial depth with three-dimensional mass to challenge how viewers navigate and perceive sculptural weight.
