Censorship Series investigates the mechanics of redaction, institutional control, and the systemic manipulation of language. Expanding on the conceptual and typographic frameworks of the Process Series, these works move from description and dialogue to the physical suppression of thought.
Rendered across individual canvases, texts addressing art, ethics, and social structures are systematically obscured using heavy, opaque black bars. The act of visual redaction alters the function of the written word: what remains visible becomes heightened and fragmented, while what is concealed creates an assertive, structural void.
By applying the visual vernacular of classified documents and state censorship to bold, monochromatic colour fields, the series examines how discourse is regulated, how meaning is dictated, and how the elimination of context reshapes truth. The viewer is positioned between deciphering the remaining fragments and confronting the authority of the black line.
