Blanks is an ongoing series of small-scale wall works that capture concise aphorisms, literary fragments, and visual footnotes. Synthesising original texts with appropriated fragments—ranging from Thomas Hobbes’s "accidents of bread and cheese" in Leviathan to themes of Kabuki theatre and Dino Buzzatti's The Tartar Steppe, the series distils complex conceptual ideas into immediate, graphic statements.
Taking visual cues from Jean-Michel Basquiat’s gestural lettering and raw typographic immediacy, the text is hand-painted onto bold, monochromatic colour fields. Stripped of surrounding narrative context, these painted statements function as isolated triggers for thought—short-circuiting conventional reading to operate as both linguistic signifiers and tactile visual objects.
