Happy Birthday Edgar, 2024

In this collagraph print, a large floating head dominates the space. A smooth bowl-shaped haircut contours sharply to the head, while the eyebrows are styled with a slit. The picture is portrayed with grayish and black tones. There are also earrings on the ears to add a more modern touch to this piece. Drawing from his Chicano heritage, Loza fuses the monumental form of the ancient Olmec colossal with a more contemporary art style when drawing the popular haircut that most Latine youth would call the "Edgar-styled haircut”.
