The intersection of nature and the human-built world was incredibly shocking in January 2025 when the Palisades and Eaton Fires radically shifted life in Los Angeles. The community based mutual aid that rose up in our city signaled a compassion reset that would only strengthen as the federal government withheld emergency disaster funding and incredibly, just months later, began a cruel, unconstitutional assault on immigrants through military and ICE occupation of parts of L.A. My work this year has been heavily influenced by these events and the need to respond with an overwhelming energy of peaceful protest and love. I believe that most of us, here and around the globe, have had enough of current institutions that are failing the people and the planet. Let love and compassion for our fellow humans, for nature, for all life ... rule.
