The Harold L. Lyon Arboretum, managed by the University of Hawaii, is a 200-acre arboretum and botanical garden in the rain forest area above Honolulu. Its collection includes over 600 varieties of palms. The base image for "Fallen Frond" is from one of those distinct species that shed this particular leaf. I was drawn to the geometry of the leaflets against stem, as well as their textural differences. The resulting kaleidoscope echoes the tropical setting of its origin.
