Ironbound Island is so named because it is almost completed encased in near vertical cliffs without easy access for coming ashore. But as I recall, according to the boat tour guides in Frenchman Bay, there were some pretty wild parties there in the roaring 20's. John Singer Sargent completed a number of paintings there.
