I used a palette knife to make this painting because the rocks seemed to be arranged so abstractly. A knife keeps me from being very exact. It lends a completely different character to a painting. This is the long view of a basalt dike through the granite. Basalt erodes much more quickly than granite, creating to a small canyon at the edge where the Schoodic rock meets the sea.
