Sophia’s Song is an exhibition of paintings from many different series completed over several years. As such, the styles differ slightly as I moved from focusing on the messy undergrowth of Valley landscapes, to large-scale details of plants and insects. I move from a more neutral to a brighter pallet, and ultimately to a series of sepia tones on wood. What is consistent throughout is a love and respect for the natural world. I stay with this subject believing that nature offers us a window to Hagia Sophia, or Divine Wisdom. In her rhythms- cycles of season and life- I feel an interconnectedness with all things. I am home.
This exhibition is on display at the UTRGV Performing Arts Complex, 1201 W. University Drive, Edinburg, TX 78539. The building is open Monday - Friday, 8AM - 8PM. The artwork will be up through the end of September, 2022.
