In this room I have tried to mix up the sense of the coast both in winter and summer, here in the Uk and abroad.
One of a pair I bought on eBay in May 2013. (for this bedroom). I had them framed in the floating style to give them a firmer presentation. One imagines they are of somewhere like Greece. Of course any further information if known would be very welcome.

Anthony (Anton) Matthews

1925-2008

Anthony Matthews, who adopted the name 'Anton' in later years, was born in Cheltenham in 1925. He studied there and in Reading before embarking upon a career in teaching, becoming head of the School of Art at Rugby. Matthews served on committees in arts administration and exhibited widely, including works at the Royal Academy, The Royal West of EnglandAcademy, The Young Contemporaries, The Society for Education in Art, The Royal Cambrian Academy (of which he was a member) and the London Group. He lived in Chard, Somerset.
