"Though Thy Sins Be as Scarlet" (Isaiah 11:6) Image: This allegorical depiction of repentance aims to show how, when we’re in the mire of sin to some degree, there is Help waiting. Although a man is depicted in the mire here, he represents any of us, male or female. Note how the red garment in this piece (representing sin) passes over the man, but is also in the shadow of Jesus—and its placement relative to Him is symbolic. Because His blood flowed in Gethsemane (like the garment flows in the painting), our raiment can shine white under His care. Soon, we will be lifted up, and our entire wardrobe (natures) will be completely changed, pure and white.
