Referencing suggestive mid-century Italian blown and cut vessels, Kim Harty's recent work deconstructs the vessel’s hierarchy of opening and containment while confronting the imagery of a sliced organ. She is currently experimenting with remixing these organ forms with historical decorative tropes, provoking a consideration of the complex, beautiful, and grotesque aspects of reproduction and birth.
