The second significant dream I experienced in December 2022 featured a fur-less cat dying, its body slumping and spinal cord separating in my partners hands, turning into a white snake. Significant dreams don't show up often but when they do I listen. This cat was sinewy and strong, like a Sphynx. To me this dream Sphynx represents the strengthening of my ability to protect and assert myself, own and honour my aggression and bring my leadership power and potential into the world. It invites me to share more of myself to make a difference.
In this work, I am feeding the Sphynx. The unique, colourful beads with an Egyptian feel were made by artist Jenny Campbell of Bendigo and gifted to me on a woollen tassel. They have been repurposed specifically for this artwork. Jenny has given me permission to use them in this work.
