"Victoria has finally downed one of the bluntest and most controversial public health tools used during the pandemic. As of today, the lockdown has lifted from Melbourne, and along with it, the curfew. There are hopes the measures will not be needed again any time soon in a highly vaccinated population". ABC News.
It was a significant moment in the pandemic when the curfew was dropped in Melbourne on 21st October, 2021. The relief for my friends and clients was palpable. A deep breath released. This was the harshest measure used around the world during the pandemic, where most of Melbourne could not leave home from 9pm - 5am every night.
This diptych is about that movement and lightness that was felt when the restrictions were lifted and some freedom returned both externally and internally.
