A landmark piece of early Eco-Art, Sacramento Meditations: On Revaluing Paradigms combines cartography and eco-philosophical commentary to challenge modern land-use practices across California's Central Valley watershed.
Visual Composition
A hand-cut relief map of California forms the left side of the composition, highlighting the contours of the state's mountain ranges and tracking the flow of the Sacramento and San Joaquin river systems outlined in red ink.
The upper right field is constructed from yellow grid paper featuring handwritten text in neat, deliberate handwriting under the title "On Revaluing Paradigms."
