Caught between two cultures, never enough, always too much, yet proud to claim both.
Inspiration: In the 90’s movie’ “Selena”, Edward James Olmos, as Abraham Quintanilla, said, “we have to be more Mexican than the Mexicans and more American than the Americans, both at the same time! It’s exhausting.”
My life finally made sense.
“Coconut” is a less than favorable term to describe someone deemed “white” on the inside and “brown” on the outside. Silly that we have to come up with labels, isn’t it?
