CASA / HOUSE emerged from an exploration of home as an emotional landscape shaped by memory, ritual, objects, and light. Conceived as a multidisciplinary body of work, the project extends across painting, ceramics, poetry, and installation, exploring how art, architecture, and interiors can exist as one continuous language.
This Private Room presents a selection of paintings from the CASA / HOUSE collection.
Moving between abstraction and suggestion, the works trace fragments of rooms, thresholds, windows, gardens, and horizons without describing them directly. Rather than illustrating domestic interiors, they evoke the atmosphere of remembered spaces through layered gestures, subtle tonal shifts, and expressive mark making.
Together, these paintings consider the home not simply as a physical structure, but as a repository of identity, belonging, and cultural memory, conceived not as decoration but as an extension of the architecture itself.
About the Artist
Gaia Starace is an Australian-Italian multidisciplinary artist, architect, and interior designer based in Sydney. With a background in architecture and fine art, her practice moves fluidly between painting, sculpture, ceramics, interiors, and site-specific installations. Drawing from the Australian landscape and her Italian heritage, her work explores memory, materiality, and place, creating collections where art, architecture, and design become one continuous language.
