Acquired at the 2019 Winter Park Paint Out -- One of the goals of plein air painting is to capture the play and movement of light in a scene. Most people assume this is sunlight. But many plein air artists paint at night. This night painting or “nocturne” by Morgan Samuel Price includes light from multiple sources – up lighting below the tree, spotlights on the column and moonlight in the background. Morgan incorporates all of these into a single cohesive painting of a cool spring evening along Park Avenue in Winter Park, FL.
