My friend and I spent an arduous day getting up to Lamark Col with heavy packs. This route is a shortcut to the Evolution Region along the Muir Trail. Just as we arrived at a plateau near the col, rain began to splatter. We quickly set up tents and had a rest while a heavy thunderstorm raged around us. Later we crawled out to find the mist rising and a most beautiful light washing over the 14,000ft. Mt. Humphreys. A few years before I had climbed that peak, and also experienced a storm on its slopes.
