This piece was completed in the studio after a 21-day private rafting trip down the Colorado River through the Grand Canyon. This kayaker navigated every rapid and proved an invaluable help in some tricky situations. Seeing him against the immense scale of the cliffs was a daily inspiration. He made the perfect model for the idea I wanted to convey; humans so tiny in this imposing landscape.
