My father acquired this clamshell back in World War 2 during his stint in Papua New Guinea. It's 18" across, a size which would indicate an age of 80 or more years. Giant clams are now endangered and protected throughout most of the world, but poaching continues. My father treasured this shell throughout all his years. Now long gone, I hope he would find this artwork mesmerizing and a good use of antiquity.
