Supernumerary was created after my diptych entitled Escapism. My intention was to make the diptych whole, bridging the gap between my experience between two places. While the fibers are connected at the core, the outer edges are still open to possibility. The work was inspired by the supernumerary rainbows I saw in Colorado. One instance in particular, there appeared to be multiple rainbows stacked on top of each other, receding in space, and wrapping around a ray of light. The work exemplifies this experience of the supernumerary rainbow. There are multiple layers of beauty, even in the things we commonly experience. Once we see those layers, the light is revealed.
