Hadron Loop II

This painting was inspired by the development and research at the time it was made of the Large Hadron Particle Accelerator at CERN. The marks and lines reference symbols of astronomy and astrology (the ancient form of astronomy).

SUBSTRATE:
-TRIPTYCH - THREE PANELS 1-24" X 24" AND 2-24" X 12"
BOLTED TOGETHER -
-Three mounted Encaustic Collagraph Monotypes on paper mounted onto three Ampersand Gessobords.

MEDIA USED:

-CLEAR ENCAUSTIC MEDIUM - Iridescent Copper and White encaustic paint

-PRINTS: The mounted prints were made with Akua non-toxic Intaglio inks. Colors: Paynes Grey, Black, Transparent Orange, Raw Sienna and Diarylyde Yellow. The white lines on the prints were done using a white oil based marker.

-OILS: Some oil paint was used over the top of the wax: Iridescent Copper pigment stick and white.

*IT IS RECOMMENDED TO USE RIGID INSULATION MATERIAL FOR TRANSPORTATION, STYROFOAM CORNERS AND/OR GLASSINE AND PLASTIC SHEETING DIRECTLY OVER THE FACE OF THE PAINTING ONLY.

*CAN BE WRAPPED - BUBBLE WRAP FACING OUT.
CAN BE BUFFED AND/OR DUSTED WITH A SILK OR POLYESTER CLOTH.
*DUST INNER FRAME WITH CANNED AIR

*DO NOT STORE IN VERY COLD OR VERY HOT PLACES (LIKE ATTICS) WITH ANYTHING OVER THE FACE OF IT. EVER.

*PANEL SIDES ARE PRIMED WHITE AND PAINTED WITH BLACK ACRYLIC PAINT
*CUSTOM HAND FABRICATED THIN GAUGE C-CHANNELED STEEL FRAME POWDER COATED BRONZE

CARE/CLEANING:
Due to temperature fluctuations, encaustic paintings can lose their luster over time.
*USE A NYLON OR SILK CLOTH TO BUFF THE FACE OF THE PAINTING TO BRING THE LUSTER BACK.
