Diamond Night started off as a 'Lotus Cathedral,' to highlight the Eastern inspirational story of how the lotus grows from inauspicious beginnings in the mud to become a beautiful flower. As the painting progressed, it became a tribute to the Moon, a flying rock that is beautiful by reflecting the Sun's light. The crystalline structure is like a faceted stone and it reminded me of a diamond in the rough. Ultimately, the painting is abstract and open to multiple interpretations.
