"Cardinal Song," is a love story. The Cardinal's distinctive call tells us to look to the highest perch to be dazzled by the truest red in nature. Dramatic, swooping lines fly through the space with rivulets of pure oil paint combed across the surface. Each form is built of multiple colors, layered to resonate and glow. The love letter hangs in the air on the right as it passes from one to another –a violet ground, glittered with turquoise. (This is a deeply personal painting for me as I use this whistle with my husband, of 22 years together, to locate each other in stores, etc....finding our mate....)
