In Anemone, the composition aligns with the traditions of Neo-Expressionism and contemporary abstract figuration. The piece balances a sense of wild, untamed growth with an overriding atmosphere of serene stillness, achieved through a disciplined reliance on a neutral color composition. Texture is developed with fluid applications of light-body acrylic paints, layered with the coarseness of oil pastels.
The visual impact relies heavily on the varied quality of the mark-making and brushwork. Broad, sweeping strokes define the larger botanical masses, shifting from translucent washes to opaque, velvety blocks of color. This contrast between the loose, gestural sweep of the paint and the crisp, analytical precision of the drawing tools introduces a compelling rhythmic tension, making the surface feel both spontaneous and meticulously considered.
