Laura Revelt is a Los Angeles- based artist/designer primarily working in art departments for Film, Theater, commercial work, music festivals and other events. She enjoys being both hands on: crafting and installing environments for stories and public experiences, and in set design thinking and planning, including drawing & drafting.
Originally from Lancaster, Pennsylvania Laura grew up in a house filled with play, books and films, giving her a love for stories, illustrations and fantasy. Growing up in the countryside and spending most of her adult life in Philadelphia, Laura has a love for both the outdoors and city culture; drawing inspiration from natural forms and built environments. She studied architecture and architectural preservation at Tyler School of Art, Temple University, where she gained a new spatial way of thinking and her love for a variety of architectural styles. Additionally at Temple, Laura started her career in entertainment through collaborating on student films and theater productions.
Since graduating, Laura has continued on her artistic, spatial, and architectural exploration and finds inspiration through travel, architectural research, survey, photography, novels, and through collaborating with other artists on the sets of video productions and photo. Her variety of influences can be observed in the foundation of her solo art practice of whimsical and surreal digital collages, paintings and installations; experimenting with space, surfaces/ planes, scale, color, texture and storytelling.
