“‘Supersynthesis' comprises a physical installation along with a digital interface. Two types of interfaces are developed for this project. The first interface is a website that allows the audience to collectively control the physical installation using their mobile devices or an iPad in the space. The second interface is designed for performances, allowing the installation to be controlled independently and used as a performative object. During the show's opening, two musicians were invited to use this interface and perform with ‘Supersynthesis.’”

Amay Kataria is a new media artist known for his innovative and thought-provoking media interventions. With a background in computer engineering and a Master of Fine Arts from the School of the Art Institute of Chicago, Kataria is dedicated to creating cutting-edge immersive experiences that combine art, design, and technology. He uses custom industrial software to transform existing media infrastructures into interactive installations and performances that captivate audiences. His work draws inspiration from Robert Rauschenberg's 'Open Score,' a performative piece presented during 9 Evenings: Theater & Engineering in 1966, which involved Frank Stella playing tennis with wired rackets that generated a score and controlled the lights around the Armory. Kataria also incorporates elements of movement and sound culture, blending them with advanced technology to create systems that evoke warmth, empathy, and joy for the audience.

His work has been exhibited at major festivals and exhibitions worldwide, including Vector Festival, Hyde Park Art Center, Ars Electronica, Electromuseum, and others. He has also been invited to prestigious residencies at institutions such as Art Center Nabi, AIR Sandnes, and Mana Contemporary, where he pushes the boundaries of new media art. As an artist, Kataria continues to contribute to and expand the horizons of new media art. His work exemplifies the power of technology to create meaningful and transformative experiences.
