"I create sculptures made out of natural silk fibers. This is in homage to the father of modern neuroscience, Cajal, the discoverer of neurons and neuroplasticity, that referred to neurons as the 'butterflies of the soul'. The silk fibers have resonance with luxury, hair, with the organic, metamorphosis, neuroplasticity and human transformation. I have developed a process of silk casting that I use to cast small figurines (angels, animals, brain parts, etc). I arrange all these motifs [to create] Baroque compositions. I create associations and juxtapositions between symbols of neuroscience, religion, mental health, culture, nature vs. nurture, education, sci-fiction and bioethics."
