"I use ceramics, textiles, found objects, and sound to explore the ways in which we preserve memory, collectively, and as individuals. What is remembered, why, by whom, through what means, and how does this process of preservation shape us and our descendants? I began my artistic career as a musician and singer-songwriter, writing and recording albums that explore intimate moments of loss and nostalgia. My sculptural work, haunted by the specters of fallen civilizations, considers the larger churn of history."

Clare Burson is an interdisciplinary artist whose work incorporates ceramics, textiles, found objects, and sound. She received her BA degree in History from Brown University and spent over a decade recording albums and touring internationally as a critically acclaimed singer-songwriter. Her last release, Silver And Ash, was featured in The New Yorker, The New York Times, and on NPR. Burson expanded into visual art after the birth of her second child, studying ceramics at Greenwich House Pottery in New York City and Anderson Ranch Arts Center in Snowmass, CO. She began working with textiles and found objects during Lockdown in 2020. In 2022, The Shirley Project Space in Brooklyn, NY presented Burson's first solo gallery exhibition, from some other time. She has since had individual pieces selected for juried shows at Brooklyn Waterfront Artists Coalition, 440 Gallery, Underland Gallery, and Field Projects. In 2023, Burson co-curated the show, Unearthed at The Shirley Project Space and attended her first residency at Watershed Center for Ceramic Arts.
