"My parents said they burnt many photographs after the 1979 Islamic revolution, a drastic act mirroring their tumultuous relationship with photographs. The loss ignited a lasting emotional scar, leaving behind fear and numbness. Obsessed with the surviving photos and those lost, I collected many old family photographs from Iran, extending beyond my own family. Listening to others' post-revolution photo stories highlighted three poignant acts: Burning, Tearing, and Burying. These became the conceptual and visual bedrock for my "It's Hard to Kill" trilogy. A trilogy that delves into the complex themes of identity, historical recollection, and constructed memories."
