"We can have beauty while we talk about ugly things. My communication strategy for tough topics involves subtlety and providing questions rather than answers. Through printmaking, bookmaking, installation, and sculpture, I invite the viewer into an aesthetic experience that rewards slow-looking by presenting concepts which push up through a lovingly fabricated surface.
I’m interested in how perspectives evolve and intend the work to be a quiet challenge to the viewer to explore their own. Rooted in a belief that we each need to take our own path toward understanding large concepts, I implement both abstract and representational imagery to leave room for this self-examination to take multiple directions."
