Internal Diary
Altered book, needle felting, collage, painting
“*Trigger Warning* ‘Internal Diary’ explores the memories, emotions, and fragility of abuse survivors. Created by installing a smashed, then repaired, ceramic of a woman looking down into an altered book, and using wire, wool, book pages, and glue for the spiraling of a dark thought cloud. Ellen Hopkins' verse [of] poetry from ‘Smoke’ is used to express thoughts and feelings of abuse survivors. This piece helped express some of my own personal traumas. I want to help raise awareness, shedding light on the aftermath forced upon individuals who already had to survive a traumatic experience. Opening more conversations on mental health and recovery."
