“We all have memories, past experiences, euphoric moments, as well as the pain that comes from living. Masochistic tendencies can accustom one to the elation and pangs that come with being alive. My art plays around with these complexities, centered on things found and people met.

From creating memorial portraits to preserving shadowy moments—from embedding stream-of-consciousness writing onto discarded, personal, and ultimately everyday ephemera—I project my paradoxical feelings about intimacy, loss, and yearning. This is my human attempt to sustain those grey-scale instances that could evaporate like smoke.”

About the artist

Andrew Snow

Born in Bradenton Florida, Andrew Snow moved to Orlando to begin his college education at The University of Central Florida. He graduated with his BFA in studio art (emphasis in painting) in 2017 and received a Master of Fine Art at the Pennsylvania Academy of the Fine Arts in Spring of 2020.

Painting remains an important part of his studio practice. In addition, he identifies as a maker and multi-media artist. He believes his work no longer has to be a painting to just be a painting. Sometimes a piece wants to be an embroidery, a glass etching, or even a batik.
