Sebastian studied medicine at Weill Cornell Medical College before pivoting his career into art & design. Discovering 3D printing helped his career transition and unlocked a new world of making, from products to fine art furniture. In his final year of medical school, he created a neuroanatomy teaching model at the MakerLAB to demonstrate the complexity of visual pathway deficits using LED lights. His own art and design work is showcased under the moniker Voidfill Studio, where he combines 3D printing with various other fabrication techniques. He has designed several lamps, unconventional furniture pieces, and wearable electronics that have been showcased during NYCxDESIGN week.

“My work focuses on combining technology, craft, and 3D printing to create functional sculptures that re-imagine the way we use everyday objects. I am interested in the products that we use and adorn, such as furniture, electronics, and jewelry, and the cultural references or nostalgia that result from reinterpreting them. I like to create work that is both familiar and useful, while giving it a new spin of humor or curiosity. I’m also influenced by the biological sciences, and try to relate forms found in nature, both molecular and anatomical, in the work I create.”
