“The ‘Ghost Guns’ project began in 2016, inspired by a desire to spark an artistic dialogue around the horrific mass shootings taking place across the United States. In 2015 alone, there were 372 mass shootings, resulting in 475 deaths and 1,870 injuries. These statistics prompted the first ‘Ghost Guns’ exhibition in September 2016.
The installation consists of 372 handmade guns created from papier-mâché and recycled materials. They hang from invisible fishing line and move subtly with any slight air current, pointing in all directions to symbolize the unpredictability of being targeted or killed.”
