“My collage pieces are the sum of what I have explored, experimented with, and learned in the past few years. I’m constantly curious about new techniques and themes and have seen my work become more narrative as I go along. Some themes I explore are feminism, mysticism, surrealism, and absurdism. My work is mostly playful and whimsical in nature, sometimes with darker undercurrents. I collect used materials almost weekly to add to what I affectionately call ‘my paper hoard.’ The more I practice, the more possibilities I see in random items: a discarded shopping list, plastic bread tags, a cardboard cereal box.”

Jeannie Worley

Jeannie Worley is a collage artist residing in Evansville, Indiana, USA. She was born in Japan, the daughter of a Vietnam Veteran. She spent her childhood traveling around the world for her father’s Navy career. In adulthood, she started her own wedding and portrait photography business and worked for 25 years. She specializes in embroidered photographs and mixed media analog paper collage. Her work is almost entirely composed of secondhand items: orphaned photos, books, old letters, junk mail, food packaging, maps and postcards, etc. Jeannie’s work has been exhibited in virtual and local exhibitions and art galleries. Her solo collage show, Pieces of Yesterday, was exhibited in July at The Rumjahn Gallery in Evansville, IN. She also regular participant in Yart, a local biannual art fair. Her collage work has been published in Photo Trouvee Magazine’s Echoes of Yesterday, The Mini Collage Collective’s 2023 Look Book and Piece by Piece: Cutting, Swapping and Creating curated by Kelly Schaub. Jeannie lives in Evansville with her partner, the artist Gary Logan Hobdy and their two spoiled cats.
