Victoria Ann Jensen was born in 1998 in Voorhees, New Jersey, and currently resides in Virginia. After receiving her Bachelor of Fine Art in Illustration from the Maryland Institute College of Art in 2021, she is currently earning her Master of Fine Arts in Visual Studies at Norfolk State University. When creating her mixed-media paintings, she uses food and the narratives shared at the kitchen table to make sense of her hyphenated gastronomy as an American woman from Dominican and European heritage. Victoria has been commissioned to create large scale murals throughout both Norfolk and Portsmouth, Virginia, illustrating fantastical scenes using diverse food ingredients and characters. Victoria has also had her work shown in multiple publications, such as the New York Times and Hyperallergic, and in exhibitions curated by students during Norfolk’s annual NEON festival and established galleries such as the d’Art Center. As she earns her Master’s degree, Victoria has mentored undergraduate students through their art and collaborations on community engagement projects with the Elizabeth River Project and the Center for American Public Policy. She is currently preparing for her graduate thesis exhibition in the Fall of 2024.
