About the artist

Carmen Mardonez

Carmen Mardónez (Santiago of Chile, 1988) studied History and Arts in the Catholic University of Chile, and a master’s degree in Community Psychology at the University of Chile. She has also participated in classes and workshops on Art-Therapy, contemporary embroidery, and traditional knitting on horsehair.

In parallel with arts, since ten years ago she has participated as a volunteer in different initiatives in support of incarcerated women in Santiago. During 2014 she worked in the Chilean NGO Techo, and between 2015 and 2017 on the Center for Public Policy at the Catholic University of Chile, managing students’ projects in local governments and Chilean prisons. Since October 2017 she lives in Los Angeles, California.
