"This film was based on my experiences attending a summer camp in North Carolina with my cousin. At 16, It was my first time away from my home in Colorado for longer than a few days, and it was also where I discovered I was queer. I started to have a crush on one of the girls there. We texted every day and sent letters to each other until we could meet again at camp the next year, and when it finally arrived, she didn't act how I expected. The symbol of 'fireflies' is representative of my time there. Their existence is fleeting; they only come out at night, only in certain parts of America, and only in the summer."
