"Coming from two immigrant parents seeking the American Dream, I grew up in Texan suburbia adjusting to the norms of my environment, but always had a gaping hole in my identity that is my culture. I reminisce on visits to Brazil as a child, and question my role as an American in the landscape. I photographed gestures and sentimental items alluding to key memories of these visits, as well as moments in the U.S. where I attempted to connect with my culture. Using collage and printed images, I aim to create a snapshot of moments in my life where I’ve questioned my identity."
