"I started this painting in September 2021, when the Heartbeat abortion law in Texas went into effect. I truly don't think I have ever been so angry, so upset.

My paintings explore the human condition and the array of confusing emotions and experiences that we encounter in this life. Love, loss, and longing are some of the main themes of my work. I paint intuitively, and the work becomes a direct reflection of my own feelings and emotions at the time of creation. The landscape becomes a metaphor—a mental space that draws the viewer in and lets them find their own solace in the work."

Shannon Evans

Shannon Evans is a contemporary oil painter who lives and works in Los Angeles, California. With a BFA in Drawing and Painting from CSU Long Beach, Evans uses color and brush marks expressively and intuitively to create an immersive abstract landscape. Her paintings are mirrors of the human experience and are influenced by what is happening in her own life. Some of the themes she works with are loss, love, longing and wonder. Her work has been exhibited and collected nationally and internationally.
