"This work is inspired by Le Musée de la Femme Henriette Bathily, the first women’s museum in Africa and the first private museum in Senegal, which ‘intends to give voice to women from multiple horizons, bearers of ancestral know-how or innovators.’ The concept of this art is loosely based on the fangool Mendiss or Mindis, who protects the Fatick Region of Senegal. The fangool is saving the woman from drowning and guiding her to shore symbolizing women helping each other & pushing each other forward to a better future."
