“'Cascading Gold’ was featured in my 2025 solo show 'A New Leaf,’ where I added metal leaf and gold leaf to the paper for most of the pieces in the show. I was enchanted by the glow of the leaf and created a body of work including it...My vessels are woven entirely of heavy cotton archival paper that I have painted and textured using many different surface design techniques. The medium of paper empowers me to explore and have fun with technique, structure, color, and detail, while the curls give emphasis to movement, texture, and dimension. Working in paper has set my creative spirit free."

Patti Quinn Hill

Patti Quinn Hill was born in 1948 in New Orleans, Louisiana, and is now residing on a wonderful farm in Weaverville, NC. Patti has been a basket maker since 1987. She is a member of the Southern Highland Craft Guild and has been on the Board of Trustees for that organization and is a member of many national basket maker organizations. Her teaching experience consists of Penland School of Craft, Arrowmont School of Craft, National Basketry Organization, CraftSummer at Miami University of Ohio, Appalachian Center for Craft, Tennessee Arts Academy, Tennessee Art Educators Association, American Craft Council Southeast Seminar, and teaching for private groups and guilds. She has been featured in many gallery exhibitions, books on basketmaking, as well as wreath making and beadwork. Patti has won awards for her baskets at gallery shows and fairs and national basket maker conventions. Her work can be found in many private and corporate collections around the world. Her contemporary style leans more to the artistic elements of design working in archival paper. Patti's woven vessels of paper can be acquired through Blue Spiral I Gallery, the Folk Art Center, and by commission.
