“These selected works address daily routines and rituals that take place within domestic settings that I am comfortable in physically and emotionally. Through this process of setting up the camera, composing my personal space, putting myself in front of the camera lens, and clicking the shutter release, my images aim to access how my physical body moves and feels within these spaces. When displaying the work, my goal is to convey moments of honest vulnerability that invite the possibility of universal relatability to the viewer.”

About the artist

Bonnie Crawford

Through her studio practice, Baltimore-based artist and mom Bonnie Crawford explores how intimacy, risk, and harm inform habits of care. She began working this way when she became a single mother of two and in turn became dependent on extralegal, queer family structures for support. She received an MFA from the University of Maryland Baltimore County and a BA in Studio Art from the University of Maryland College Park. She was awarded a prize in the 2015 Juried Exhibition at Terrault Gallery in Baltimore, MD. Recent solo exhibitions include “Lying Next to a Hammer in Bed” at Montpelier Arts Center, Laurel, MD and “Versions” at Hillyer Art Space, Washington, DC. She was included in the two-person exhibition “Adapt/Adorn” with Amy Boone-McCreesh at Cody Gallery at Marymount University, Arlington, VA.
