Tam Benjamin is a conceptual photographer who creates multiple layers of surface in each image, focusing on visual culture as it relates to widely recognizable places and experiences. She utilizes vernacular objects and vintage imagery with her own photography and videos to create a dialogue about how cultural touchstones, shared nostalgia and the zeitgeist of a time or place are communicated visually.
Tam studied fine art photography at Syracuse University, Sarah Lawrence College, and The International Center of Photography. She worked at various fine art photography galleries, professional labs and with established fine art photographers.
