Their visual work shines a queer light on our transient overlooked simple natural places and quotidian life. Rebirth, the LA Department of Cultural Affairs Reimagine Public Art grant recipient, is an oil painting video spoken word piece combining the intentions of live painting, music, nature bathing, and poetry in video art.
They approach the composing of a poem from the musicality of the syllables and the vibrational emotions elicited, incorporating spoken word in many other disciplines. Multi-hour art happenings sky directs have inspired all across the globe and moved them to current experiments layering past, present, and future artistic realities through technology and audience responsive/immersive experiences that queer our habituated binaries and allow for uncovering our unique creative tools of expression.
The adaptation required for climate change permeates the immediacy of their themes, and queer visibility inspires their prolific creations. Sky aspires that their work be a seed of a true and modern Queer (un)Enlightenment bringing about The Queer(New) Renaissance where every being, human and non-human, LGBTQ2IAP+ and not, marginalized and center-staged, is recognized as having their own unique dream worth contributing to our co-created reality.
