Lebsack creates artworks using mixed media with ink, charcoal and acrylic painting on archival copies of sheet music, books and/or newspaper. Utilizing collage backgrounds formed from various types of printed text on paper, Lebsack renders his artworks with symbols, metaphors and stories about ourselves. He is currently represented by Artspace Warehouse Gallery in Los Angeles.
"Each of my artworks is an open-ended narrative that often engage in reflection about the human condition. I encourage the viewer to construct their own visual interpretations of my drawings and paintings informed by the fragments of printed paper background materials. I like the meaning of each artwork to be somewhat unique to the viewer and work on multiple levels. The seemingly random placement of text in the background can come into focus to reveal layers of meaning if you read the words and images together. Among a multitude of possibilities, a single piece of my art could be understood as addressing a poignant social issue, a memory, a story of growth or personal struggle; simultaneously or separately, depending on the lens through which you view the world."
