Hunsaker worked as a guide/guard at the Solomon R. Guggenheim Museum in New York. She is a member of the Boston Printmakers and the Los Angeles Sociey of Printmakers. For seven years she was a resident artist at El Zaguan Artist Colony sponsored by the Historic Santa Fe Foundation in Santa Fe, NM. There she had five one-person shows.
Hunsaker's work is included in the permanent collection of the State of New Mexico, the Historic Santa Fe Foundation, and the Casa de las Americas in Havana, Cuba. Her current projects include The Picture Show (monoprints and linocuts of classic movie scenes and classic movie theaters). She is also working on The Tiny Drawing Series (1000 tiny, meaning 4 inches by 6 inches, drawings in sketchbooks with quotes included in the piece).
Hunsaker is currently represented by the Watson MacRae Gallery in Sanibel, FL. She works in her studio using a press to make monoprints and linocuts and she draws every day in her sketchbooks.
Artist Statement:
The basis of all my work is drawing. As we see in Werner Herzog's film The Cave of Forgotten Dreams drawing has been around for over 35,000 years. I see no reason to stop now. Drawing leads to printmaking and printmaking leads to mixed media. I like to combine different forms of printmaking with oil pastel, prismacolor pencil, and other media. My inspiration comes from nature, movies, and travel.
