Layla Klinger is a hole maker and artist, born in Tel Aviv and based in Brooklyn. Their work has been exhibited at Mana Contemporary (Jersey City, NJ), Urban Zen Foundation (New York, NY), the 2019 Fiberart International Biennale (Pitsburg, PA), and Hive Gallery (Los Angeles, CA), including solo shows at Rosenfeld Gallery (Tel Aviv) and at The Houston Center for Contemporary Craft (Houston, TX).
They created site-specific installations for the Little Islands Festival (Sikinos, Greece), New York Public Library (NYC), Nightlight Festival (Tel Aviv), and FRATZ Festival (Berlin). Klinger was invited to be artist-in-residence in several residency programs, including Prairie Ronde (Vicksburg, MI), CA+MP (Upper Jay, NY), Penland School of Craft (North Carolina), and Artport (Tel Aviv).
In 2023, they were selected to be a fellow at LABA NYC - Laboratory for Jewish Culture, selected as a NYSCA/NYFA Artist Fellowship finalist in the category of Sculpture/Craft, and received the Young Lace Maker Award from OIDFA - The International Bobbin and Needle Lace Organisation.
They received their B.Des in Textile Design from Shenkar College of Design and Engineering and their MFA in Textiles from Parsons School of Design, where they are currently an adjunct faculty member.
